I like memes. I like niche humor. So when I designed my first
patch, only about 10 people understood the reference. Not a whole lot to found
a business off of. So I didn’t. One time thing.

Fast forward to 2023, and I found myself at a brief pit-stop
on Wake Island. Haven’t been there? Well after staring at the ocean for about
four hours, you will find it a surreal experience to see a mass of trees, sand,
and asphalt sort of floating in the middle of nowhere. Like somehow the Earth
didn’t render the right texture.

As beautiful as Wake is, your image of a pleasant island
paradise is quickly marred at the sudden realization that the entire beach is
covered with trash. This island, surrounded by thousands of miles of ocean, was
dirtier than all the beaches I spent spring break at in college (and those were
horrible.)

That realization left me a little pissed off, but what could
I, an aviator, do about it? My job is 30,000ft above that problem, and quite
frankly, I cannot stop everyone from throwing their garbage in the ocean. But I
can make patches…

That is the true story of how I cooked up the idea for High
Time Outfitters. An aviation apparel company with a focus on saving our planet
from looking like Wake Island’s beaches. Maybe that is a bit lofty an idea for
now. But it’s a start.

Maybe you are here just for the funny patches and cool
T-shirts. That’s ok. In fact, by ordering our gear, you are actually making a difference
after all. I decided that High Time Outfitters would self-impose a flat rate 1%
tax on ALL sales to donate to grass-roots environmental organizations. From funding
carbon-removal projects to protecting baby sea turtle nests, these
organizations are fighting the good fight for our home world.
